Grapefruit - citrus freshness in every drop

FRESHNESS – ENCOURAGEMENT – STRESS RELIEF

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi, Rutaceae family) is a subtropical tree whose fruits – grapefruits – are known for their sour to bittersweet taste. They are a cross between pomelo (Citrus maxima) and orange (Citrus sinensis), and there are several varieties, such as red, pink or white grapefruit.

The essential oil , which is obtained by cold pressing from the fresh peel of the fruit, has a fresh, sweet citrus scent with a slightly bitter undertone, which you will appreciate for refreshing the air. It is very popular for its refreshing aroma.

In aromatherapy it is used for:

  • psychological encouragement,

  • stress and tension relief.

In the cosmetics industry, it is used in oils for cellulite, massage mixtures, shower gels, soaps and deodorants. It is one of the popular ingredients in perfumes for summer days.

Seed extracts containing flavonoids and vitamin C are part of dietary supplements designed to support the normal function of the immune system and protect cells from oxidative stress. Preparations containing vitamin C support the absorption of iron.

Nefertitis' tip for homemade massage oil for cellulite

50 ml almond oil
30 ml grapeseed oil
20 ml jojoba oil
10 drops of grapefruit oil
8 drops juniper oil
6 drops of cypress oil
4 drops rosemary oil

Mix all ingredients well. Massage in circular motions towards the heart 1 to 2 times a day, for at least 3 weeks. Store the oil in a dark bottle at a temperature of 15 to 25 °C. Shelf life is at least 1 year.
Warning: essential oils can be phototoxic, meaning that the skin reacts hypersensitively to UV radiation, resulting in redness and an inflammatory reaction. It is not advisable to go out into direct sunlight or use a tanning bed while using the oil.

Interesting fact: grapefruit juice should not be consumed together with some medications, as it can affect their effect, usually by increasing it, which is associated with side effects.

Essential oils are used exclusively externally; they must always be diluted on the skin, e.g. in olive, sunflower, jojoba or other oil.
