The chemical composition of magnetite is iron-iron oxide, in Czech it is called magnetovec. An interesting fact is that since 1548 it has been known under other names. It was named in 1845 by Wilhelm Karl von Haidinger (1795 - 1871), an Austrian mineralogist, geologist, physicist and optician, after the location of Magnesia in Greece.
