Ylang Ylang - a touch of sensuality from a tropical paradise
EXOTIC – SENSUALITY – CALMING
Cananga odorata (Annonaceae), also known as Ylang Ylang, is an evergreen tree native to Southeast Asia, famous for the wonderful fragrance of its flowers.
The essential oil from the flowers is irreplaceable in aromatherapy, cosmetics, perfumery and traditional folk medicine. The scent is intense, sweetly floral, suitable for refreshing the air, in aromatherapy:
-
to relieve breathing difficulties,
-
during stress and tension,
-
for sleep disorders,
-
for calming down,
-
to improve mood, boost meaning, and promote intimacy.
Cosmetic use: add 1 to 2 drops to the amount of shampoo in the palm of your hand.
Because of its unmistakable scent, it is part of perfumes with floral and oriental scents.
On the market you can find essential oils labeled as:
-
Ylang Ylang Extra (first hours of flower distillation, 1st fraction: is the highest quality),
-
Ylang Ylang ST (distillation marked as 2nd fraction),
-
Ylang Ylang Complete (uninterrupted distillation, contains both “extra” and “ST” parts)
-
Kananga (fragrant) – its scent is less floral than ylang ylang, with spicy undertones, suitable for men's perfumes.
Essential oils are used exclusively externally; they must always be diluted on the skin, e.g. in olive, sunflower, jojoba or other oil.
Warning: in higher doses, the intense scent of the essential oil may cause headaches in sensitive people.
